KUALA LUMPUR: Technology industry billionaires dominated the Bloomberg Billionaires Index after a rally of  large-capitalisation technoogy stocks lifted the Nasdaq and S&P 500 to their fourth consecutive record close.

Eight out of 10 of the billionaires on Bloomberg Billionaires Index as at June 14, 2024 were in the technology industry.

The Index daily ranks the world's richest people.

Elon Musk topped the list with a net worth of US$207 billion.  His biggest asset is Tesla, the world's most valuable car maker.

Musk is the chief executive of Tesla.

Jeff Bezos ranks number 2 with a total net worth of US$206 bilion.

Bezos is the founder of Amazon, the world's biggest online retailer.

The world's largest social-network, Facebook, co-founder Mark Zuckerberg is ranked number four with a net worth of US$179 billion. His biggest asset is Meta Platforms, the company behind Facebook.

The only two billionaires not in the technology industry were Bernard Arnault and Warren Buffet.

Arnault ranks third on the list of 50 billionaires with a net worth of US$204 billion.

He is the chairman of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world's largest maker of luxury goods.

Legendary investor Buffet is the chairman and largest shareholder of Berkshire Hathaway.

He ranks number 10 on the list with a net worth of US$134 billion.

Berkshire Hathway  has delivered a 19.8 per cent compounded annual gain in market value since 1965.
