KUALA LUMPUR: Unique Fire Holdings Bhd, a leading fire safety and protection company, announced today that it has received the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia's approval for its A1 rated electric vehicle (EV) car fire blanket.

Unique Fire is the appointed authorised distributor for Bridgehill's EV car fire blankets in Malaysia.

The approval confirms Bridgehill EV car fire blanket's compliance with European and North American safety and quality standards, specifically EN 13501-1:2018 and BS 1869:2019.

These standards ensure that the EV car fire blankets contain non-combustible and flame-retardant characteristics, necessary for effective hazard mitigation in the event of a fire.

"This stamp of approval by the Fire and Rescue Department affirms that the Bridgehill's EV fire blanket is in compliance with the highest safety standards, which is good news for EV owners.

"With a target of 100,000 EVs on the road by 2030, advanced fire safety solutions are crucial. Unique Fire is poised to significantly contribute to the evolving EV infrastructure by ensuring safety keeps pace with rapid advancements,"

Unique Fire managing director Liew Sen Hoi said in a statement.

Unique Fire last traded 1.67 per cent lower at 29.5 sen a share.

Bridgehill's car fire blankets combine advanced technology with user-friendliness to contain fires involving lithium batteries and EVs.

Designed by engineers and rigorously tested by firefighters, these blankets are certified A1 rating by RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB, which is defined as non-combustible, namely the EN-ISO 1716 and EN-ISO 1182 standards, as well as flame retardant by QAI Laboratories.

Both are independent third-party testing, inspection and certification organizations recognised in Europe and North America.

Unqiue Fire said the blankets are ideal for locations with high vehicle concentrations, particularly EV charging stations, parking lots, and petrol stations.

It is reusable for up to 20 car fires.
