KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia closed higher at lunch break, supported by heavyweights mainly in the financial services and plantation sectors. 

Bursa Malaysia ended the lunch break higher, supported by heavyweights in the plantation and financial services industries.

At 12.30pm, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI closed 0.64 per cent or 9.95 points, higher at 1,557.52 at midday versus 1,547.57 points at Friday's closing. 

The key index moved between 1,548.38 and 1,559.51 throughout the morning trade. 

The broader market was positive, with gainers surpassing decliners (657 to 319), while 379 counters remained unchanged. 

On the index board, FBM100 added 0.62 per cent to 11,317.73, FBM Emas gained 0.64 per cent to 11,67072, and FBM Ace gained 0.95 per cent to 4,905.10. 

Keyfield International Bhd maintained its spot as the top gainer, adding 96 sen to RM1.86. 

The company made its debut on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia at RM1,70 a share, reflecting an 89 per cent premium over its initial public offering price of 90 sen apiece. 

On the losing end, Malaysian Pacific Industries dropped 90 sen to RM30.20.
