KUALA LUMPUR: Mercu Maybank, a Grade A GBI corporate tower in i-City , Shah Alam has secured the Fiabci Malaysia Property Award 2023 in the office category for its innovative initiatives, a feat attained within just two years of its operation.

Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, chairman of I-Berhad, hailed the accolade as a "remarkable achievement," underscoring the company's dedication to architectural excellence and urban advancement.

He emphasised that Mercu Maybank not only graces the skyline of Shah Alam but also acts as a driving force for economic prosperity, sustainable living, and an enriched quality of life, all through cutting-edge technology.

Through the incorporation of state-of-the-art smart ecosystem features such as facial recognition, intelligent elevators, sensors, natural lighting, and water harvesting systems, the tower actively contributes to reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmental sustainability.

"Mercu Maybank now stands proudly among the world's elite structures. It has not only redefined Shah Alam's skyline but has also emerged as a catalyst for socio-economic progress," he told Business Times.

Lim said Mercu Maybank transcends the traditional notion of a mere building; it serves as a nexus where work, lifestyle, and community seamlessly converge, thus transforming Shah Alam into a dynamic hub and positioning i-City as a global attraction.

Officially unveiled on April 7, 2022, Maybank's new office space, Mercu Maybank, spans 14 floors and accommodates over 1,500 employees.

A Maybank spokesperson previously told Business Times that the transition to Mercu Maybank serves as an ideal permanent alternative location, given its sophisticated corporate office design, robust security features, and Green Building Index certification, aligning with its sustainability objectives.

Moreover, its strategic distance from Maybank's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur adds to its appeal as a secure operational base.

Meanwhile, Lim said as part of the I-Berhad family, Wyndham Suites @KLCC has opened its doors to a new dimension of travel.

"I would like to invite guests to explore the dynamic offerings of i-City by enjoying the lightscapes of over 100 million LED lights and other attractions such as Immersive Winterland and Digital Sports Arena, and also indulge in the refined comfort of Kuala Lumpur's city centre through our latest product offering," Lim said.
