KUALA LUMPUR: Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) or KWAP, has appointed Zarina Halim as the new chief retirement services officer, effective Jan 2, 2024.
Zarina will be in charge of creating and carrying out the retirement services division of KWAP's policies, plans, and initiatives.
She will also be in charge of making sure retirement services and customer service are delivered to the highest standards, according to a statement released by KWAP today.
In her capacity as chief retirement services officer, KWAP said that she is ready to strengthen the company's sustainable retirement plans.
In Malaysia, there were over 790,000 pension recipients as of December 31, 2023, of which 570,000 were pensioners, KWAP said.
KWAP chief executive officer Datuk Hajah Nik Amlizan Mohamed said that, aligning with the tagline "Your Retirement Companion," it hopes that Zarina will further enhance efforts to empower both pensioners and future pensioners towards an ideal and fulfilling retirement.
Zarina, who served at Hektar Group for over 20 years prior to joining KWAP, brings extensive experience and knowledge in the field of sustainability, it said.
She was part of the founding group in 2002 and the management group responsible for the listing of Hektar REIT on Bursa Malaysia in December 2006.
She began her career with UEM Group, serving the group for almost a decade at Prolink Development, the master developer for Iskandar Puteri, Johor, and later at a venture capital arm, OptixLab.
KWAP said that she intends to benchmark with the top pension funds globally and emulate measures that would further improve the adequacy, sustainability, and integrity of KWAP's pension system and operations.
"In addition, with her solid background in the customer-facing industry, where the satisfaction of customers is the central focus and crucial for success, Zarina can leverage her vast experience in the field to oversee a diverse range of activities aimed at enhancing engagements with both current and future pensioners," KWAP said.
KWAP said that this aligns with its aspiration to extend its reach to enrich the variety and utility of engagement initiatives for its key stakeholders, the Malaysian pensioners and derivative pension recipients.
