KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia is expanding network in India with a new route from Kuala Lumpur to India's first UNESCO World Heritage City, Ahmedabad in May 2024.

Ahmedabad, also known as Amdavad, is a historic city in India known for its vast cotton textile hub, serene lakes, and centuries-old mosques.

As of May 1, 2024, AirAsia will have eleven routes to India, including its third new route in 2024.

This new route will increase the airline's rapidly expanding connectivity to the country.

To celebrate this milestone, AirAsia is offering a one-off promotional fare for those wishing to explore Ahmedabad.

Fly from only RM209 from Kuala Lumpur and from just INR7,999 from Ahmedabad to Kuala Lumpur when booking from now till January 28, 2024 for travel between May 1, 2024 till March 19, 2025 on the AirAsia Superapp or the website.

AirAsia Aviation Group group chief executive Bo Lingam said they couldn't be more thrilled to announce yet another venture of AirAsia into Incredible India to the beautiful Ahmedabad  ‒ with many more to follow suit as they capitalise on the Malaysian government's the visa-free entry into Malaysia for Indian nationals initiative.

"When we launched our very first flight into India in 2008, our vision and mission had always been to enhance affordable connectivity between our two nations."Both Malaysia and India have plenty of untapped tourism potential and it has been amazing to see how travel has boomed in both countries in the last decade," he added.

AirAsia offers direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to India, including Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, via its short-haul airline AirAsia Malaysia and New Delhi, and Amritsar.

AirAsia plans to launch flights to Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, in February 2024, and offers affordable Fly-Thru options from Kuala Lumpur to over 130 destinations in 22 countries.
