KUALA LUMPUR: Newly-appointed Plantations and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani has stepped down from his role as chairman of CI Holdings Bhd today. 

In its filing with Bursa Malaysia, CI Holdings said Johari is no longer a member of the nomination and remuneration committee due to his resignation as non-executive non-independent chairman. 

"The company's director Megat Joha Megat Abdul Rahman, 60, who has 0.62 per cent direct interest in the company, has been re-designated as the non-independent non-executive chairman.

"Megat Joha is also a board member of KUB Malaysia Bhd, Marine & General Bhd as well as Central Cable Bhd," it said.

Johari was appointed to the board on March 6, 2019 and was re-designated as non-independent non-executive chairman on May 30, 2019.

As per the financial year 2023 (FY23) annual report, Johari, holding 53.4 million shares, is the largest single shareholder in CI Holdings with a 32.96 per cent indirect interest through JAG Capital Holdings Sdn Bhd.
