KUALA LUMPUR: After months of teasing, smart Malaysia has finally launched its electric vehicle (EV) smart #1.

This also means the EV, which will officially imported and distributed by Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (Pro-Net) in the region, has finally been given a price tag, starting with RM189,000.

Additionally smart Malaysia introduced a host of all-inclusive premium ownership packages (five in total on top of the standard warranty) aimed to deliver comprehensive and worry-free journey for its customers.

The standard warranty includes eight-year 200,000km high voltage battery warranty, eight-year 150,000km high voltage component warranty, four-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, two-year unlimited mileage spare parts warranty, and 24/7 road side service assist.

"We are committed to reshaping the landscape of premium all-electric mobility in the country. Our dedication lies in reshaping consumer confidence through exceptional aftersales service, which includes readily available parts, an integrated public charging map, and a seamless digital ecosystem.

"We firmly believe the key to success is to place customer needs and desires at the heart of every product and service we offer. Today, we celebrate our smart enthusiasts and eagerly look forward to expanding the presence of the smart #1 on Malaysian roads, providing a distinctive, premium, and intelligent all-electric urban mobility experience," said Pro-Net chief executive officer Zhang Qiang.

Three variants are available: Pro, Premium and Brabus. All running on 19-inch Dynamo alloy wheels.

Both Pro and Premium mostly differ in battery specifications while sharing the same design finishing.

The smart #1 Pro variant with a rear wheel drive (RWD) setup is powered by a 49kWh LFP Battery, providing a WLTP range of 315km.

Sharing the same RWD drivetrain the smart #1 Premium on the other hand offers additional features including CyberSparksLED + Matrix headlamps, an illuminated front grille, and a 66kWh NMC Battery.

It is equipped with a 200kW/343Nm single motor driving the rear wheels, delivering a WLTP Range of 440km. 0-100kph acceleration is recorded at 6.7 seconds.

Boot space is 323L when all seats are up and can go to a maximum of 986L when rear seats are down. Front storage is listed at 15L.

The two come with a total of 10 colour combinations including: Future Green, Quantum Blue, Digital White, Cyber Silver, Lumen Yellow, Laser Red, Atom Grey – Matte (Atom Roof), Atom Grey – Matte (Red Roof), Cyber Silver (Red Roof), and Meta Black (Red Roof).

Comfort comes in the form of a 10-way powered ventilated front seats with memory function for the driver, N95 carbon filter with dual-zone auto air-conditioner rear vents, and a moonroof.

Safety features include primarily the electronic stability control, hill hold assist, hill descent control and seven airbags.

Advance driver assist systems consist of adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, front and rear collision mitigation support, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and prevention, front and rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, door opening warning and automated lane change assist.

The Brabus variant is a sportier take on the smart #1 and sits at the top of the line-up as the more premium-performance driven choice.

While it shares the same body physically as with its features, the Brabus variant diverges design-wise with the exclusive 'Brabus' interior and a combination mix of seven exterior colours.

For example, if you choose the Radiant Red roof, you can select from Atom Grey — Matte, Meta Black, and Cyber Silver exterior colors. The black roof choice lets you match with Digital White, Laser Red, and Cyber Silver.

Lastly, there is Atom Grey — Matte, which also comes with an exclusive matte body-coloured roof.

Around the car are 'Brabus' decorative markings and logos to highlight the variant's status.

Cabin is filled with a black-red theme and the continued various 'Brabus' stamping.

Beyond looks the Brabus variant also gets a boost in performance.

It houses a dual-motor All-Wheel-Drive powertrain which delivers an output of 315kW and 543Nm of maximum torque.

The setup allows the car to achieve a 0-100kph acceleration time in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 180 kph.

There's also the Brabus's engine-acceleration audio to replicate the V6 internal combustion engine's (ICE) sound to incite a raw power sensory if you're concerned about the EV's clinical ambience.

The dual-motors are powered by a 66kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery and has a range of up to 400km (WLTP).

22kW AC charging is available allowing a 10-80 per cent charge in an estimated three hours.

DC fast charging at a similar charge percentage can be achieved in 29 minutes.

A vehicle-to-load three-point plug power output is also available.

The smart #1 Pro, Premium and Brabus is priced at RM189,000, RM219,000 and RM249,000 respectively.
