KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2023 is expected to attract 50,000 trade visitors and potentially lead to negotiated sales worth RM1.5 billion.

This is a step upwards compared to SIBS 2022, which saw record-breaking participation of businesses from 60 countries taking up a total of 906 booths and achieving RM1.45 billion in potential transaction value.

Invest Selangor Bhd officially launched SIBS 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today, with the event scheduled to take place for four days from Oct 19-22.

SIBS, initiated by the Selangor state government and organised by Invest Selangor, is a premier annual business event connecting brands and innovators to opportunities in Malaysian and regional markets.

Invest Selangor chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris said SIBS has now grown in leaps and bounds, to become one of Malaysia's largest international marketplace and business networking events for exhibitors, trade visitors and buyers, investors and conference delegates that matches business communities across the region.

"SIBS 2023 will be a great opportunity to create, connect and collaborate with possible existing and new business partners, not only from Malaysia, but possibly from many countries attending the event," he said in his remarks at the launch of SIBS 2023.

The new Selangor state rxco for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han expressed excitement about meeting SIBS partners and supporters.

Ng, who is in charge of SBS, reaffirmed Selangor's commitment to providing an international networking platform for the business community.

"As I gathered from the results gained by SIBS over the years, it is clearly fast gaining an international reputation as the premier regional event for businesses seeking to build and expand their presence in the Asean region.

"I also want to encourage businesses and industry players who have yet to sign up to reach out to Invest Selangor and participate in SIBS in one way or another.

"Take this opportunity to engage in the many discussions, forge productive partnerships, and seize the opportunity within Selangor and the broader Asean market presented during SIBS 2023," he noted.

Themed "Selangor, Gateway to Asean", the four-day SIBS 2023 promises to pack even more value in its seventh edition this year.

Featuring a total of 11 events, SIBS 2023 takes up the entire eight expo halls and seven conference halls of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, hosting anout 1,000 trade booths.

The summit also promises to pack even more value for its stakeholders, featuring a total of six main events, with an additional of five side events.
