KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia rebounded from the lower opening in the morning today and closed higher at the mid-day break. 

At 12.30pm FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) closed 2.24 points higher at 1462.52 compared to 1,459.03 at the opening. 

During the early trading session, the key index trended between a low of 1,458.62 and a high of 1,464.15.

On the broader market, the losers marginally lead the gainers of 441 to 356, while the other 426 counters remain unchanged. 

As for other indices, FBM100 was up by 13.830 points to 10,446.80, FBMEMAS rose by 15.520 points to 10,763.76, and FBMHIJRA climbed 8.000 points to 11,730.93 while FBMACE slid down to 16.580 to 5,318.64. 

According to Tradeview Capital Sdn Bhd vice president Tan Cheng Wen, many Asian markets were affected, including Malaysia, after China's soft July business and consumer activity. 

This also included the subsequent interest rate cut by the People's Bank of China.

"Investors will be on the lookout for this month's corporate results before making their next move, and the market should trade rangebound till then," he added.
