USER experience is an important aspect of building customer success and brand loyalty.

Three local Shopee sellers Mr Bentong, Tokey Sambal Hitam and Zhiwei Herb —showcase how trusted user experiences have helped them sustainably grow their businesses in homegrown products and benefitted farming communities across the country. 

LOCALLY FARMED GINGER-BASED PRODUCTS

Hafiz Oon, also known as Mr Bentong, started selling ginger-based health products that originate from his farm in Bentong, Pahang. 

In just two years, Mr Bentong has amassed over 23,000 buyers and 17,000 followers on his Shopee store, while gaining 4.9 stars.

The key to his success lies in the authenticity of his story as well as visible customer testimonials displayed on his Shopee storefront. 

He uses social media to educate Malaysians on the health benefits of consuming Bentong ginger and the ways this simple ingredient has transformed his life. 

Hafiz now sources 10 tonnes of ginger each month from 10 local farms, providing jobs for over 50 staff members and benefitting those employed by his suppliers too. 

"The demand is all on Shopee. Shopee is great at connecting me with customers. Customers are more familiar and comfortable to shop on Shopee," said Hafiz.

LOCALLY SOURCED SAMBAL HITAM

Shopee Super Award 2022's Super Favourite Buatan Malaysia winner Khairil Adzhaza saw his business thrive thanks to strong after-sales and customer service on Shopee. 

Through consistent follow-up services like replacing damaged sambal containers, Khairil's Tokey Sambal Hitam achieved an estimated 20 per cent profit year on year. 

His business also managed to achieve the 'Best-Selling Sambal Hitam sales on Shopee of all time' because of his dedication to gaining his customer's trust. 

Tokey Sambal Hitam sources its ingredients like anchovies, chillies, onions and bamboo starfruit locally from farmers in Selangor, Pahang and Perak. 

The brand currently has 15,000 loyal followers and a five-star rating from nearly 73,000 Shopee users. 

Khairil said: "What makes a difference in driving customer trust is being a Preferred Seller on Shopee. To drive great user experience throughout the user journey, my store leverages Shopee Ads, and Shopee Marketing Solutions such as vouchers and bundle deals."

NUTRITIONAL HERBS AND NUTS

Zhiwei Herb owner Ooi Zhi Wei built a loyal customer base of over 400,000 followers on Shopee within the span of five years. 

He did this by engaging with his consumers. This included sharing product insights and technical knowledge as well as keeping the user experience consistent. 

Besides that, Shopee's personalised user experience and features like Shopee's Marketing Solutions, free shipping vouchers and double-digit campaigns helped Ooi establish his business online.

Ooi said: "Shopee's personalised user experience means it is very easy for customers to find my store online."

His business incorporates technology in the production process and uses advanced machines capable of roasting 200 litres of nuts. 

Ooi also maintains sustainable partnerships with local vendors from Penang, Perak, Melaka, Selangor and Johor.
