KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) has bagged Gold Award at the 73rd Annual Australiasian Reporting Awards 2023 in Sydney, Australia.

MRCB received the accolade from its 2021 integrated annual report, marking the fifth time that the company has gotten the gold award.

Chief corporate officer Amarjit Chhina said MRCB had witnessed huge improvements in its corporate reporting in the last few years.

This is supported by growing disclosure requirements by regulators and stakeholders.

"Nevertheless, despite the bar being continuously raised in corporate reporting, winning another Gold Award proves our unwavering commitment to setting the highest standards in corporate governance and disclosure, and communicating honestly and transparently with all our stakeholders," he added.

The Australasian Reporting Awards was established to uphold and improve standards of reporting.

It is managed by an independent not-for-profit organisation supported by professional bodies that cares about the quality of financial and business reporting.

Its Gold Award represents the highest standard of reporting and disclosure based on global best practices and international benchmarks that focus on transparency and accountability.

Recently, MRCB won the Gold Award for governance, reporting and transparency at the environmental, social and governance (ESG) Positive Impact Awards 2022 on June 8 this year.

The ESG Positive Impact Awards recognises businesses that have demonstrated exemplary practices.

It is endorsed by several esteemed organisations including Ernst & Young, the ABAC Center of Excellence Ltd and the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance.

MRCB said the accolades is a testament of its efforts for ensuring ESG compliance, that includes corporate disclosure and build on the recognition that the company received last year when it ranked second out 864 listed companies in the Minority Shareholders Watch Group's Asean Corporate Governance Awards.
