KUALA LUMPUR: Most completely knocked down (CKD) BMW and Volkswagen vehicles saw a fall in prices after the Sales and Service Tax (SST) implementation compared to the Goods and Services Tax (GST)-era.
With the new list price announced by BMW today, 530e Sport, 530i M Sport (RM4,000), 740Le xDrive (RM4,000), 118i M Sport and 318i Luxury models have dropped by as much as RM3,000.
However, the CKD X5 xDrive40e M Sport model’s price has increased by RM2,000.
For BMW complete built-up (CBU) models, the likes of M4 Coupe and M5 have increased by as much as RM12,000, while 430i Coupe M Sport and X2 sDrive20i M Sport (RM8,000 increase each) and RM7,000 increase for 420i Coupe Sport.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) in a statement today said the new prices for Volkswagen vehicles were lower after the SST implementation than during GST except for CBU models.
"The Polo model is now priced at RM74,990, compared to RM76,888 during GST while Vento Comfortline decreased to RM84,690 from RM86,888.
"The price of the Vento Highline model also dropped to RM91,490, Tiguan Comfortline (RM146,690), Tiguan Highline (RM165,990), Passat Comforline (RM176,690) and Passat Highline which now cost RM195,390," it said.
VPCM said the VPCM Price Scheme (PPS) is still applicable to all models registered before November 15, 2018 and while stocks last.
"Since introducing PPS, demand for Volkswagen vehicles has increased. While we strive to meet all demands, vehicle stocks are very limited and customers should seize this opportunity to make reservations as soon as possible," it said.
