IPOH: Glove maker Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd and the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) will build a RM1.5 billion integrated city in Bidor.

Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said it would strengthen the state’s economy and create 6,000 jobs.

He said a 333ha site in Batang Padang district had been identified and construction would begin immediately.

He said the state government would always leave the door open to local and foreign investment to develop the state’s economy and impove the people’s lives.

Faizal said this after witnessing the signing ceremony between the glove maker and PKNP at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan, here, today.

The company was represented by its group managing director and chief executive officer, Tan Sri Lim Kuang Sia, while PKNP was represented by its chief executive officer, Mohd Ariff Yeop Ishak.

Lim said Bidor was chosen due to its location and he believed that the state government would support the project.

“We needed a piece of land and it happened that the land in Bidor was suitable. At the same time, the state government is looking for investors to come to Perak.

“The state government encourages us. I believe they will give support to us to develop the economy and provide job opportunities.”

During the event, Menteri Besar Incorporated and ECK Sdn Bhd also signed an agreement for the construction of 321 housing units on a 10ha plot in Tronoh.

Faizal said each unit would have an area of 111.5sq m and be priced at RM90,000.

He said the developer would be given the opportunity to build more units if the project was completed within the stipulated time period.
